Greenville, Ohio (5-29-26)— Spirit EMS is excited to announce its fourth annual EMT Boot Camp, scheduled for June 8–12, 2026, designed to engage and inspire high school students interested in pursuing careers in emergency medical services and public safety.

Greenville Township Rescue Paramedic Kyle Phillips speaks with students at the 2025 Spirit EMS EMT Bootcamp about the dedication and commitment required to become an EMS provider.
The week-long camp will take place in Greenville and will be led by Spirit EMS Education Coordinator Lt. Scott Wolf, with assistance from numerous Spirit EMS team members and Darke County-based fire, EMS, and hospital professionals. The program provides students with hands-on experience and direct exposure to real-world emergency response environments.
This year’s boot camp will feature a specialized focus on trauma care, offering students immersive, practical training across multiple disciplines.
Participants will take part in a variety of hands-on skills training sessions, including:
• Stop the Bleed
• CPR certification training
• START and JumpSTART triage methods
• Trauma assessment techniques
• Spinal immobilization and backboard movement
• Sheet lifts and patient movement classifications (urgent, emergent, non-emergent)
• Vehicle Extrication techniques
• Emergency vehicle operations (EVOC driving experience)
Students will also participate in site visits and interactive experiences with local emergency response and healthcare professionals, providing insight into real-world operations across the continuum of care.
A highlight of the week will take place on Thursday, when students will participate in a large-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) simulation. During this immersive exercise, participants will be divided into roles based on their interests—EMS, fire, or hospital staff—and will work together to respond to a simulated emergency involving vehicle extrication and coordinated patient transport.
The camp will conclude on Friday with a debriefing session, team-building activities, and a graduation ceremony, celebrating the accomplishments of all participants.
Continuing a long-standing tradition, one participant will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to attend the EMT school of their choice, further encouraging students to pursue a future in emergency medical services.
Students should also note that they are eligible to begin EMT training during their senior year of high school and sit for certification upon graduation, providing a head start on entering the healthcare workforce.
