(9-8-26) Wapakoneta, OH — — Vancrest Health Care Centers is proud to announce plans to build a new senior living campus in Wapakoneta, located on the historic grounds of the former Auglaize County Home. The project will feature a 64-bed skilled nursing facility and 35 assisted living units, bringing a full spectrum of senior care services to the community.
The new campus represents a joint investment in local health and wellness, as Grand Lake Health System will serve as a partner in the project. Together, Vancrest and GLHS are committed to ensuring that area seniors have access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home.

The Auglaize County Commissioners and administrative team played a vital role in making the project possible by working with Vancrest to identify opportunities for redevelopment of the former County Home site.

A Community-Centered Vision
The Vancrest of Wapakoneta campus is designed with residents and families in mind, offering a continuum of care that allows individuals to age in place with comfort and confidence. The campus will feature modern living spaces, thoughtfully designed common areas, and convenient access to health and rehabilitation services—all within a welcoming setting.
Vancrest of Wapakoneta will have 64 skilled nursing resident beds, all accompanied by adjoining restrooms and private showers, with the majority being private rooms. It will also include a state-of-the-art physical/occupational therapy area, spacious individual living quarters, lounge, recreation and dining space, salon, bistro and a community room for hosting facility and community events. There will be a wide range of professionally delivered services.
The facility also will have 35 assisted living apartments offered in efficiency and one-bedroom units. The facilitieswill offer assistance with daily living, with availability of three meals per day and activities. All apartments will include private bathrooms with showers as well as kitchenettes, including refrigerators and microwaves.
Construction is expected to begin this month, with an estimated construction timeline of 18 months. Once open, the facility will create new healthcare jobs and strengthen local access to senior services.
