Press release from Allen County Sheriff’s Department

(1-9-24) On Sunday 1-7-2024 at 2:57am. the Allen County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a shooting at a residence in the 11000 block of Slabtown Rd, just south of Columbus Grove.

Upon the arrival Putnam County EMS was already on scene, attempting lifesaving measures on a 15 year old male victim. He was transported to Mercy Health in Lima, Ohio, where he passed away to his injury.

The victim was a member of the Columbus Grove football team.

Another 15 year old male was taken into custody at the scene. He is currently being held at the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center. The suspect and victim were family members and actions that led to the shooting are still being investigated.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.
