Van Wert, Ohio (4-21-26) — Maumee Valley Network (MVN) is proud to announce Colleen Kay Wiley of Van Wert as the March 2026 MVN Flag of Honor recipient, recognizing her outstanding service to both country and community.

Colleen was nominated by Kayla Bishop for her lifelong dedication to serving others.

Colleen served in the United States Army, attached to the 327th Military Police Battalion, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Bagram, Afghanistan. During her deployment, she earned the Army Achievement MedalGlobal War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal. As Sergeant of the Guard, she demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to the well-being of her fellow soldiers.

Following her military service, Colleen continued her dedication through the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). A Life Member since 2004, she joined Post 5803 in Van Wert, where she served as Post Commander from 2012–2016, earning All-State Status three consecutive years. She later transferred to Post 3035 in Delphos, where she remains active in the Color Guard.

Her leadership extended beyond the local level. Colleen has held multiple district and department roles, including Poppy Chairman, Women Veterans Chairman, Community Activities Chairman, and Membership Director. At the national level, she served on key committees focused on VFW programs and governance.

In June 2023, Colleen made history as the first female Commander of the VFW Department of Ohio, marking a significant milestone within the organization.

In addition to her military and veteran service, Colleen dedicated over 26 years to the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, where she was honored as Deputy of the Year in 2018 before retiring in March 2023.

The MVN Flag of Honor is a monthly recognition program highlighting individuals across the Maumee Valley who have made a meaningful impact through service, leadership, and community involvement.
