(4-22-26) Last night at the Greenville City Council meeting three members of the Greenville Police Department were recognized for their dedication, professionalism, and service to the community.

Emergency Communications Operator Erin Kies was selected by her peers as the 2025 Emergency Communications Operator of the Year. Erin has served the community for nearly 20 years and is known for remaining calm and focused in the most critical moments. Being chosen by those who work beside you every day makes this recognition especially meaningful.

Sergeant Jason Marion, who retired in December 2025 after more than 26 years of service, was selected by his peers as the 2025 Officer of the Year. Jason’s leadership, mentorship, and the strong bonds he built throughout his career left a lasting impact on this department.

Patrol Officer Carter Ward was presented the Chief’s Commendation for his lifesaving actions during an April 9, 2026 call involving a one-year-old child who was found not breathing. Officer Ward’s quick response and decisive actions helped make a difference in a moment where every second mattered.

What made the evening special was having the child, now stable and doing well, attend the council meeting with family to watch Officer Ward receive this recognition.
