(6-17-26) This week, Celina Schools Transportation Department’s Dan Nixon was honored with the Heroism Award at the Ohio Association for Pupil Transportation (OAPT) Awards Banquet.

This recognition highlights Dan’s courage, dedication, and commitment to the safety and well-being of others.
As Dan put it, “It was pretty darn cool!” We couldn’t agree more.

Heroism Award
The Heroism Award is intended to recognize appropriate acts of heroism demonstrated in the school transportation industry. The award criteria would be the following:
Those eligible for nomination include any person who is either directly or indirectly involved with saving a life or lives.
The life saving action must:
Have been performed by a person directly involved in the school transportation industry; OR If not performed by a person directly involved in the school transportation industry (i.e. students or bystanders), the action must directly affect the school transportation operation/program.
Acts of Heroism for each award year will be based on heroic actions performed any time during three (3) preceding calendar years.
