(3-10-23) Seth Nicholas Hitzeman (20) of Payne was arrested on Monday by Huntington County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Huntington, Indiana. The arrest was made after a routine traffic stop. A gun was found in Hitzeman’s car.

Hitzeman is the third person to be arrested in the May 22nd home invasion burglary and assault at a Van Wert home.

A Van Wert County Common Pleas Court warrant charges him with –

aggravated burglary (1st degree felony)
two counts of kidnapping (2nd degree felonies)
two counts of felonious assault (2nd degree felonies)

Hitzeman entered a not guilty plea on Tuesday in Van Wert County Court of Common Pleas to all of the charges in his intial court hearing. The court set bond at $250,000 cash or commercial surety; pre-trial is set for March 30.

Hitzeman is presently being held in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.

On the same day in court, one of the two others arrested in the incident..Kaiden Gilbert (20) Van Wert was sentenced on aggravated burglary, a felony 1, sentenced to 8-12 years prison with credit for 253 days already served; felonious assault, a felony 2, sentenced to 8-12 years prison with credit for 253 days already served; and theft, a felony 5, sentenced to 12 months prison with credit for 253 days already served; all sentences are to be served concurrently.
