(3-10-23) Two teens were seriously injured in a Thursday evening crash in Adams County at the intersection of SR 124 and CR 700 W.

A 17-year-old girl driving an black Impala west on SR 124 with a 16-year-old male passenger was hit in the CR 700 W intersection by Christen M. Gerber, (41) of Bluffton. The teenagers have not been identified.

Gerber had been traveling north on CR 700 W and failed to yield the right-of-way.

Both vehicles ended up in a field just northwest of the intersection.

The driver of the Impala was found just east of the two vehicles, unresponsive and was taken to Ft. Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital in life-threatening condition.

The passenger of the Impala was treated at the scene and taken to Lutheran Hospital and is in stable condition.

Gerber was given a blood draw by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office after evidence was found that showed Gerber had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Gerber was admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Gerber is facing charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated who causes death or catastrophic injury, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated endangerment.
