(12-9-22) At the Winter meeting of the Ohio Association of Juvenile Court Judges, the Mercer County Juvenile Court was honored by the Department of Youth Services with the Director’s Award for its probation program, “Expanding Horizons.”

One of the Court’s Probationers, Joziah Alidou, was also honored for his work within the program. Expanding Horizons is a partnership between the Court and CrossFit Crave where eligible probationers are directed in workouts alongside CrossFit Crave members, coaches and probation officers. The program has proven over the last five years to be a valuable tool.

Chief Probation Officer Angie Gehle explained that –

“76% of kids who complete the program have not reoffended at the year mark”.

Judge Gilmore praised all involved in the program for its success.
