(10-16-22) Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred October 15th, 2022. Mercer County Central Dispatch received a call at 2:18 PM of a single vehicle crash that occurred on St Rte 119, east of Indiana Ohio State Line Rd in Recovery Township. 

The investigation revealed that a 2000 Honda motorcycle driven by Austin G. Bussell (22) of Maineville, Ohio was traveling eastbound on St Rte 119, west of Gravel Pit Rd, when he failed to negotiate a curve causing him to run off the south side of the roadway. Bussell was transported by St Henry Squad 8 to Mercer Health in Coldwater, where he was pronounced deceased.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Southwest Mercer Fire Department and St. Henry Squad 8.    

This crash remains under investigation at this time and will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
