- Senate Bill 52 | The Ohio Legislature
LEGAL NOTICE
A non-voting, public session will be held by the Board of Mercer County Commissioners to educate and seek community input on recent legislation passed by the Ohio General Assembly. Senate Bill 52, now Ohio Revised Code §303.57 – 302.62, provides for more localized regulation of “Renewable Energy Generation Facilities”. These facilities are further defined in Chapter 4906 as economically significant wind farms, large wind farms, and solar facilities.
The County Boards of Commissioners have been vested with the authority to regulate certain Renewable Energy Generation Facilities by way of designating all or part of the unincorporated areas of a County as restricted. With input from townships, preliminary maps have been created designating unincorporated areas in Mercer County, which prohibit the construction of wind farms and solar facilities.
Mercer County citizens are encouraged to attend this non-voting session scheduled for September 29, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. This session will be held in the first-floor conference room of the Central Service Building located at 220 West Livingston Street, Celina, Ohio. There is a direct access door to this conference room on Sugar Street.
Based on community input, the maps will be finalized and the Board of Commissioners will begin the legislative process to officially designate portions of the unincorporated areas of Mercer County as restricted for construction of economically significant wind farms, large wind farms, and solar facilities.
By the order of the
BOARD OF MERCER COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Kim Everman, Administrator/Clerk
