(7-28-22) Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Gery Thobe is retiring. Thobe began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in July of 1985 as a reserve. During his career he has held many titles.

Thobe left for nine years to be the Chief of Police for the Coldwater Police Department from 1997 until 2006, when he returned to the Sheriff’s Office to be the Chief Deputy and has held that title ever since.

Thobe spearheaded the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) and has received numerous commendations for his work.
