(6-30-22) Joshua D. Highley (40) Coldwater, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on Indiana 67 in northeast Jay County.

Greg Smith, a truck driver for Jacobs Enterprise of Rushville, was driving a semi east on Indiana 67 near county road 350 East about 5:30 a.m. this morning when a westbound van driven by Highley crossed the centerline and crashed into the semi. The van caught fire.

Jay County coroner Michael Brewster said an autopsy on Highley will be conducted on Friday.

Smith was transported to IU Health Jay for examination but displayed no exterior injuries.

The Jay County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the crash.
