(12-9-20) The State of California is looking at options should the US Supreme Court make sweeping changed in Roe v. Wade.

California Governor Gavin Newsome told AP News-

“We’ll be a sanctuary. We are looking at ways to support that inevitability and looking at ways to expand our protections.”

The California Future of Abortion Council is a group Newsom started that comprises over 40 abortion providers and advocacy organizations. The group published a list of 45 recommendations (see below) that would make abortion care available in California, with additional provisions for a scenario where Roe v. Wade is overturned.

The report from the Council recommends funding (including public spending) to support patients seeking abortion for travel expenses such as gas, lodging, transportation and child care. To reimburse abortion providers for services to those who can’t afford to pay, including those who travel to California from other states whose income is low enough that they would qualify for Medi-Cal benefits.

Recently Celina City Council voted, 4-3, against Celina becoming a sanctuary city for the unborn and not allowing abortions to be conducted in the city limits.
