
(8-3-21) Today Wapakoneta (Republican) Mayor Tom Stinebaugh made his initial appearance in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court.
Not Guilty Pleas were entered by his attorneys, David Thomas and Kathryn Wallrabsenstein, on behalf of Mayor Stinebaugh:
- one count of theft in office, a third-degree felony
- eight counts of having an unlawful interest in a public contract, which is a fourth-degree felony
- eight first-degree misdemeanor. counts of conflict of interest
An Auglaize County grand jury indicted Mayor Stinebaugh last month, The case was investigated by the Ohio Ethics Commission and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The Ohio Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Section is prosecuting the case.
The case is being heard by Judge Patricia Cosgrove, who is retired from Summit County Common Pleas court. Judge Cosgrove was appointed to the case by the Ohio Supreme Court.
Stinebaugh was ordered Tuesday to surrender his passport and the deed to his home and was ordered not to leave Auglaize County as conditions of his $100,000 bond.
A teleconference between the judge and attorneys in the case has been was scheduled for September 16th.
