(7-1-20)On July 1, 2020 at approximately 6:28AM, Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Union City Rescue and Mercer Southwest Fire responded to the intersection of State Route 49 and Light Road for a one-vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed Wanda Hicks (48) of Coldwater was driving northbound on State Route 49 in a Black 1996 Ford Ranger. Hicks apparently fell asleep and traveled off the left side of the roadway into the ditch, continuing north in the ditch driving up the embankment and then went airborne over Light Road and coming to rest on the north side of Light Road.
Hicks was transported to Wayne HealthCare and later transported to Miami Valley Hospital for her injuries.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
