CELINA- As of July 1, 2020, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) reports 271 confirmed cases, 7 probable cases, 226 recovered cases, 32 pending cases, 1,183 negative cases, 6 hospitalizations, 9 deaths, and 1 probable death of COVID-19. Currently, Mercer County has 36 active cases of COVID-19.
Today, the MCHD is reporting our first probable death of COVID-19. A probable COVID-19 death is considered when the person had signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and was a close contact to a confirmed case of COVID-19. The death certificate also must indicate a presumed COVID-19 death. The MCHD started reporting probable COVID-19 cases on June 22, 2020.
The MCHD reports three new confirmed cases.
- 269th confirmed case is a female in the age range of 30-40 years and is self-isolating at home.
- 270th confirmed case is a female in the age range of 10-20 years and is self-isolating at home.
- 271st confirmed case is a hospitalized female in the age range of 90-100 years.
When the MCHD reports positive antibody tests, these numbers are counted as probable cases of COVID-19. Also, if the same individual would be tested positive more than once, it’s only counted as one case. This does not increase our numbers.
