CELINA, OH – (11-8-18) Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office has participated in two additional drug take back events since the national take back day. On October 30, 2018, a take back event was held at the Saint Charles Seminary in conjunction with a forum on the opioid epidemic. On November 3, 2018, a take back event was held at Mercer Health during the Kid’s Fair. During these two take back events, over a pound of drugs were turned in to the Sheriff’s Office. These drugs will be held until the Drug Enforcement Administration comes to collect and destroy the drugs.
“While a pound of drugs doesn’t seem like a large amount, it is still a pound of drugs that won’t make their way into the hands of our children or into our waterways.”
Sheriff Grey also wants to remind the public that the drug drop box is available in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. There is no fee to use the drop box and it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
