(9-27-18) Mercer County once again has the lowest unemployment rate in the State of Ohio at 2.8%, down 0.2% from July. Auglaize County checks in at3.2, fourth lowest in the state behind both Putnam and Wyandot County at 3.0%
The highest unemployment rate is in southern Ohio, Adams County with a 6.7% rate.
Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in August 2018, unchanged from July 2018. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 13,900 over the month, from a revised 5,611,800 in July to 5,625,700 in August 2018.
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in August was 268,000, up 3,000 from 265,000 in July. The number of unemployed has decreased by 23,000 in the past 12 months from 291,000. The August unemployment rate for Ohio decreased from 5.0 percent in August 2017.
The U.S. unemployment rate for August was 3.9 percent, unchanged from July, and down from 4.4 percent in August 2017.
