Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports a drug arrest made by the Mercer-Auglaize County Drug Task Force.   On 3-2-2018 just after midnight a subject identified as Tiffany B. Hammond, age 29, of 537 Touvelle Street Lot 24B, Celina Ohio was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped at the request of Task Force Officers by Celina Police Department for a traffic violation on East Market Street in Celina. During the stop, Hammond was observed trying to conceal what appeared to be a plastic baggie.  She had removed the baggie from her clothing and was attempting to put the item in her purse.  The baggie was intercepted by Officers on scene and the substance inside was field-tested, which tested positive for methamphetamines.

Also during the stop, Hammond gave officers a false name.  Hammond was arrested on a warrant for Non-Support along with additional charges of obstructing, and possession of drugs.  When Hammond was taken to the booking desk at the Detention Facility she was found to have in her possession (purse) two syringes.  Hammond is currently being held at the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility on a bond of $50,000.00.   Additional charges are being reviewed.  The driver of the vehicle was not arrested.

The Task Force was assisted by the Celina Police Department Officers and a K-9 unit from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jeff Grey

“The Grand Lake Task Force, the HIT Team, Celina Police, and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office have been extremely busy this week with drug issues. We all need to continue to work cooperatively to remove this poison from our streets.  It is an uphill battle, but both the Celina Police Department and Mercer County Sheriff’s Office are aligned in fighting this battle together for our citizens.”
