On July 20, the Zahn-Marion Township Library completed its 2017 summer reading program, “Build a Better World” with 351 children participating. A party to celebrate the program’s completion was held at the Knights of St. John Hall, Maria Stein.

The top two readers in grades one through five were announced at the start of the party. They are first-grade – Danae Birt, 105 books and Norah Koesters 90 books; second grade – Justin Bergman, 166 books and Avery Bruns 70 books; third-grade – Mason Hess, 140 books and Alayna Birt, 90 books; fourth-grade – Oliver Siefring, 59 books and Addison Bruns and RJ Olberding each with 55 books; fifth-grade – Kelsey Bergman, 80 books and Brooke Evers and Luke Kunkler each with 25 books.

The top readers each received a bright, blue-colored “Build a Better World” t-shirt for their accomplishment.

Entertainment at the party was provided by Zak Morgan.

The program concluded with prizes, awards and certificates for all the summer reading participants. The children were congratulated for all their hard work.

Winners in the preschool reading program were Jack McClurg, flying disk with light; Easton Winner, mini playground balls, Ves Ashman, jumbo tennis ball, Allison Muhlenkamp, bubble sticks, Lena Jacoby, sidewalk chalk, Charlie Siefring, scoop paddles, Emily Wuebker, build a better world back pack, Jack Dirksen, large flying disk, John Wynk, water Frisbees w/balls and Jack Bruns, Aubree Kirwen, Harrison Prenger, Jaena Ray and Zak Wolters, Maria Stein Dairy Station gift certificates.

Additional winners in the grades one through fifth program were Kelsey Bergman, Mitchell Fleck, Alex Grieshop, Cayden Jones and Lila Kremer, Maria Stein Dairy Station gift certificates.
