(7-29-26) Indiana State Police have confirmed that an officer was killed after he was hit by a suspect in a stolen vehicle in eastern Indiana Wednesday morning.

ISP Sgt. Scott Keegan said the incident started at 8:30 a.m. July 29 when a Randolph County sheriff’s deputy saw a stolen vehicle and identified the driver — a 34-year-old woman from Winchester — as having multiple warrants.

Keegan said the suspect initially pulled over at County Roads 400 West and 50 South but then took off and fled from deputies.According to Keegan, the chase went through Randolph County. Keegan said Lynn Town Marshal Brad Fisher tried to set out a tire deflation system at U.S. 36 and U.S. 27 when the suspect crashed into him, lost control and then crashed into a dump truck.

Keegan confirmed Fisher died from his injuries.

“Our condolences go out to the county and town. This is a very tragic time for them.”

According to Keegan, Fisher was a 25-year veteran of law enforcement. Fisher was 50 years old and is survived by his wife and two children. His son also serves as a law enforcement officer. Marshal Fisher also served his community as a firefighter.

Keegan said the suspect was taken to Ascension St. Vincent Randolph hospital and will then be transported to jail.

The Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office will make the formal charging decision.Randolph County is approximately 80 miles northeast of downtown Indianapolis.
