On the evening of June 24th, a tragic incident occurred near the Indiana-Ohio border that required the rapid, coordinated response of law enforcement across state lines. Badges donโ€™t stop at the state line, and the seamless collaboration between our team and the Preble County Sheriff’s Office ensured a swift response to a complex scene.

๐—”๐˜ ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜…๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—น๐˜† ๐Ÿด:๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฑ ๐—ฃ.๐— ., our dispatch requested assistance from the Preble County Sheriff’s Office to locate a semi-truck driver suspected of being involved in a fatal crash on the entrance ramp to I-70 West from US 40 right at the Stateline.

Preble County deputies successfully located the male driver at the Petro Truck Stop (9787 US 40 West). During the encounter, the suspect indicated that a female occupant of his truck had been killed. The suspect was detained after resisting arrest and damaging a Preble County cruiser, and he was subsequently transported to Kettering Preble ER for treatment. He currently remains lodged in the Preble County Jail pending formal charges.

Concurrently, Wayne County investigators located a female victim inside the truck at the initial crash scene. An autopsy was conducted today (June 25th) at the Montgomery County Coronerโ€™s Office, and investigators are working diligently to formally identify her and notify her next of kin.

This remains an active, joint death investigation.
