(7-4-23) At the Celina City Schools Board of Education meeting on Monday night members were informed that the state had been contacted to get additional funds released to help cover rising construction costs for the 7th-12th grade school building set to start next summer.

“We were anticipating 5 to 6% increase. We’re upwards of 20%. The state recognized that as well. So, every so often they initiate new cost sets which say ‘this is the amount of money that we’re going to give the district to do the construction.”
The overall project cost was estimated at $127 million for the complete project but according to the above recent report that most likely will be rising.
Based on the 20% increase mentioned the entire project of buildings would need an additional $25.4 million to cover those figures.
According to the Bulldog Building Project web site…the new 7-12 building will be located on the existing Celina Primary School site. Construction is slated to start in summer 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2026.
