(5-2-23) The Celina City Schools District was seeking a renewal of a 1 % income tax for five years. The tax will raise just over $4-million dollars per year with the funds being used for school district purposes. Over the 5-year period the tax would have raised over $20-million-dollars.
After leading by a narrow margin when the absentee ballots were counted, the vote went South for the Celina City Schools District 1% income tax renewal losing in the total vote count of 794-785…by just 9 votes. 1,579 total votes were cast in the special election.

With the absentee ballots being posted by the Mercer County Board of Elections, the tax was passing 265-239 with a total of 504 votes.
