
(5-12-23) Jennifer F. Young (37) Portland has petitioned the court to withdraw the guilty plea that she entered to a neglect count stemming from her infant son’s death in May of 2021.
The neglect of a dependent count and resulting in death is a Level 1 felony carrying up to 40 years in prison.
Hayden Markle, Young’s 3 months old son, died on March 6, 2020, at IU Health Jay Hospital. The autopsy is that Hayden died as a result of “acute methamphetamine intoxication.”
Young recently petitioned for a post-conviction relief, Young in her petition claimed that her conviction had been the result of “ineffective assistance of counsel.”
Young is presently incarcerated at the Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis, and has a projected release date of July 2034.
According to prison records Young was incarcerated in 2014 on a Neglect of a Dependent in 2013.
