Brown as superintendent and reassignment as Director, under a contract addendum, to serve the district during the initial transition period of the new superintendent.

Dear Fort Recovery Local Schools Board of Education,

This letter is to inform you that I am resigning, for the purpose of retirement, from the district effective December 31, 2023. In addition, I agree to resign my position as superintendent effective July 31, 2023 to provide the board with the opportunity to proceed with the recruitment, interview process and selection process of the next Fort Recovery Schools Superintendent. From August 1, to December 31 of 2023, I will serve at the wishes of the board and the new superintendent by providing transitional support services.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the school community of Fort Recovery for the last 4 school years. I appreciate everyone that I worked alongside during this time and I believe that collectively we have made improvements to the learning environment at Fort Recovery Local Schools. The administrative team, management team, teachers, and educational support staff truly care about the students and they strive to continuously improve the school climate here at FRLS. Thanks to the past and current board members for providing guidance, direction and support over the years including the pandemic challenges of the 2020 calendar year.

I cannot think of a better school organization to conclude my 37 ½ year school career than Fort Recovery Local Schools. I wish the district good luck in your search for the next superintendent and your efforts to continue to improve the student experiences at all three buildings.

Sincerely,

Larry C. Brown
