(1-25-23) Among the state’s 88 counties, preliminary December 2022 unemployment rates ranged from a low of 2.1% in Mercer County to a high of 6.8% in Monroe County. From November, unemployment rates increased in 83 counties and fell in five. The comparable December unemployment rate for Ohio was 3.6%.
Three counties had unemployment rates at or below 2.5% in December. The counties with the lowest rates, other than Mercer, were: Auglaize and Wyandot, 2.4%.
Six counties had unemployment rates at or above 6.0% in December. The counties with the highest rates, other than Monroe, were: Ottawa, 6.5%; Noble, 6.4%; Adams and Highland, 6.3%; and Meigs, 6.0%.
