(1-23-23) On Saturday, March 25 from 9:30 to 3:00, Arts Place will host the second annual Grand Lake Area Literature Festival at Tri-Star Career Compact, 7655 St. Rt. 703. Program host Sue Siebert’s speaker was Festival representative Chris Noble, who described the event at the January 18th meeting of the Celina Kiwanis. Activities at the festival include free crafts for children, book signings, presentations and readings by authors, a visual story-telling workshop, and panel discussions. Twenty authors of children, teen, and adult books will be present. Also, the Grand Lake Area Reading Excellence Awards will be presented. During the business portion of the meeting, members turned in their entries for the gas card drawings. Two winners a month will be drawn for the next year. Drawings will begin in February. Treasurer Rita Schmit reported on the successful 50/50 sale at Overdrive. Nearly $500 was made.
Throughout February the club will be canvassing businesses for their scholarship fund. President Goodwin passed around a sign up sheet of businesses to contact and provided donation request letters to members who needed them. New member Karen Tester was formally inducted.
The Celina Kiwanis will hold a Fun Night on January 31st. They will sell 50/50 tickets at C J’s Highmarks February 10th and 11th..
