(11-25-22) Multiple Fire Departments responded to the 7800 block of Denny Road in the Mendon area yesterday afternoon around 2pm due to a residential fire of a double-wide modular fire.

The Mendon Fire Department arrived to a major fire, shortly after arriving a propane tank erupted. One firefighter was injured with minor injuries due to the explosion and was sent to St. Rita’s and remained overnight. High winds blew the fire and smoke back at the first responders.
Homeowner indicated to fire officials that he was burning trash that caught the grass and cornfield stubble on fire and then move on to the residence.
Units remained on the scene for about four hours. Mutual aid came from Rockford, Celina, Spencerville, St. Marys and Ohio City. Also assisting at the scene were Rockford Squads four and five. 20 firetrucks and 50 men were on the scene.
