(8-4-22) Mercer Landmark received a thank you note from Celina Band Director Chuck Sellers after helping an out of town visitor in a pinch.

Heath-

My name is Chuck Sellars, and I am the band director at Celina High School. For the last several days, we have been hosting a touring Drum and Bugle Corps here at Celina High School. This Corps is a group of about 140 14-21 year olds and their staff who have been on tour across the country for the last two months as a part of the Drum Corps International summer touring season. They are a group of exemplary young people and, like so many of our local young people (and my students), they have shown me yet again that the future of our country is indeed hopeful.

On Wednesday afternoon at about 3:00 pm, one of their staff mentioned to me that they were in a real fix. They had run out of propane for their food service semi-trailer and were in the middle of preparing dinner for the kids. To make matters worse, they were due to hit the road for a 400+ mile trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in the next couple of hours for the next leg of their tour and had no idea where they could get propane enroute. One of their staff had looked on Google for someone to deliver propane, but could find no one who was available and willing to come over and fill them up at that hour of the day.

I immediately called Mercer Landmark in hopes that you might have a driver who hadn’t yet gone home for the day.  Within a couple minutes, not only did your office staff have me hooked up with a driver, but Dan (not sure which Dan I spoke to) told me that you would make it a donation.  The drum corps staff and I were blown away!  Your driver, who had already gone home for the day, was here at Celina High School in about ten minutes and topped off their tanks.  The drum corps staff could not believe it and were astonished at how friendly and helpful you all were.  Within an hour, the kids were eating dinner and getting ready for the ten-hour trip to Iowa with full bellies.  Of course, I knew that this was just another example of Mercer County people at their best, and another example of why I am so proud to call Celina and Mercer County my home.  I hope you will accept my sincerest appreciation and recognition of what an integral asset your organization is to this community.  Please pass my gratitude and respect along to all of the folks at Mercer Landmark.

With highest regards,

Chuck Sellars
