(4-27-22) Jacquelynn Slone (29) of St. Marys was found to be incompetent following an evaluation performed at Court Diagnostic Services in Toledo. Van Wert County Common Pleas Court Judge Martin Burchfield on Wednesday ordered the woman transferred to the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital until she is restored to competency or until further order of the court.

Slone was indicted by a grand jury in March on charges of felonious assault, a felony of the second degree, and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.

The indictment alleges that on Feb. 11, 2022, Slone caused physical harm to Van Wert County Sheriff’s Deputy James Roehm by means of a deadly weapon, a motor vehicle, and then fled from police.

On March 23 a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity was filed on Slone’s behalf. Defense attorney John Hopkins also requested that his client undergo a psychological examination.
