Reed Shaffer with his family

(11-1-21)The Rockford Chamber of Commerce announced Robert Reed Shaffer as the 2021 Rockford Citizen of
the Year.

The Rockford Chamber Citizen of the year is given to a person who shows a dedicated interest in the community through
participation and leadership. This person gives unselfishly of his or her time as a volunteer to improve the quality of life in
Rockford. Without a doubt Reed Shaffer is a fine example for the citizens of Rockford.

Robert Reed Shaffer is a 1966 Parkway High School graduate.
He has been married to Nancy Feasel Shaffer since November 1971.
That is an impressive Fifty years!
He is a devoted family man and loving grandfather.

He is a retired Celina Reynolds & Reynolds employee of 38 ½ years. Reed served in the U. S. Army Reserves 1970 – 1976, his rank was Specialist 5. He participates in flag presentations every fall at PHS Football games and in Veteran’s Day services at the local nursing home.

Reed was instrumental in the planning and organizing of the Rockford Veteran Memorial at Hedges Park & the
Dedication Service of the Rockford Veteran Memorial with the impressive United States Air Force jet flyover.
He arranged for our older veterans to ride a wagon in the 2021 Memorial Day Parade.
