(11-1-21) This morning at 8:46AM, 11-01-2021, the Celina Police Department responded to a fatal traffic crash which occurred on SR29 at Havemann Rd.

Through the preliminary investigation it was determined that Ryan M. Lageman (25) of New Bremen was driving a red 1991 Ford Ranger pickup truck southbound on Havemann Rd. as he entered the intersection of SR29 with a green traffic signal. At the same time, Kewal Pooni (56) of Manitoba, Canada, was driving a 2016 Peterbilt semi-truck with trailer westbound on SR29 and also entered the intersection. Pooni entered the intersection against a red traffic light.

Lageman had severe injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later at Joint. Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. Kewal Pooni was not injured. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected. There were no other occupants in either vehicle. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
