WTOL TV – You Tube Video: Defiance teacher, coach helping rescue Afghan refugees in Kabul

(8-25-21) Master Sgt. Austin Carr with the Ohio Air National Guard is a a Defiance teacher, baseball coach, confirmation class leader and an uncle to seven. He is now in Afghanistan helping to rescue Americans and refugees from the hands of the Taliban.

In a WTOL story Defiance Baseball Coach Tom Held said-

“We say we’re praying for him and he says, ‘hey, as soon as I keep these people safe and get them out of here, I’ll worry about myself. That’s Austin Carr.”

How dangerous is it in Kabul? Austin told his mom in the WTOL story –

“He just said, ‘don’t watch the news, mom, don’t watch the news. I’ll tell you what you need to know. Well, that’s easier said than done.”
