Update from Hardin County Sheriff’s Office at 4:05 pm, 7-8-21

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into a homicide that occurred Wednesday evening, in Buck Township, in Southeast Hardin County, which claimed the life of Robert B. Mays, Jr. Age (29) of Fostoria, Ohio.Sheriff’s Investigators, being assisted by Ohio BCI & I and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office are following all potential leads, as they are receiving. The Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office is also assisting with the investigation to ensure thorough case development. An autopsy is being performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office does not believe that any local residents have reason to be concerned with a subject or subjects being at large in the area, which would present a concern for their safety.Anyone who may have information of any nature concerning this case should contact the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office at (419) 673-1268 or call the Sheriff’s Tip Line at (419) 675-8475.

(7-8-21) The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a case that is being treated as a possible homicide that was called into Central Dispatch at approximately 7pm on July 7th, 2021. Little is known at this time as we are actively investigating this situation. The crime has occurred in the southeast portion of the county in Buck Township. Ohio BCI&I has been called in to assist with the crime scene along with all resources available to the Sheriff’s Office.

According to a Kenton Times report…Sheriff Keith Everhart said a couple was driving on Twp. Rd. 265 about 6 pm, when they found the body of a man in a wooded section of the road. Everhart said the victim was not a resident of Hardin County. His identification is being withheld in an effort to contact family members.
