(5-27-21) Crop duster plane pilot Mark Gaerte suffered minor injuries after he crashed into Beaver Creek near Grand Lake at around 8am this morning.
The crash happened during a Dense Fog Advisory at the time of the crash.
The plane was partially submerged in the water after the crash.
Gaerte had taken off from the Lakefield Airport located outside of Monteuma before crashing the plane into Beaver Creek near the intersection of Guadalupe and Cassella-Montezuma roads.
The aircraft was carrying pesticides at the time of the crash, no word if any of the pesticides had escaped into the creek.
Gaerte was taken to Mercer Health in Coldwater for treatment of minor injuries.
The Ohio State Highway and Patrol and the ODNR are investigating the accident.
