(3-24-21) Ohio Governor MikeDeWine, as promised, vetoed Senate Bill 22.
DeWine said –
“Senate Bill 22 jeopardizes the safety of every Ohioan. It goes well beyond the issues that have occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. SB 22 strikes at the heart of local health departments’ ability to move quickly to protect the public from the most serious emergencies Ohio could face.”
The bill hich passed along party lines 25 to 8 in the Senate and 57 to 38 in the House, with Democrats supporting the Republican governor. Avery unique situation in today’s world of politics.
Ohio Senate Democrats saying the bill –
“would put Ohioans’ lives at risk and prevent future administrations from being able to swiftly respond to deadly pandemics or other public health crises.”
The Senate will vote to override the veto today.
