(3-24-21) Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating an injury crash that occurred on US Rte. 127 near St Rte. 707.ย ย Grey advised that his office received a 911 phone call of the injury crash at 11:23 AM.
The deputies investigation found that Walter A Pelfrey (55) of Fremont, Indiana was driving a 2012 Freightliner semi Northbound on US Rte. 127.ย ย Pelfrey went left of center for an unknown reason, he continued off of the left side of the roadway where he struck a utility pole, utility shed, propane tank and a house at the address of 11051 US Rte. 127 Mendon, Ohio. ย The 2012 Freightliner is owned by Damiron Trucking Services out of Fremont, Indiana. ย
Pelfrey was transported from the scene by Lutheran Air and transported to a Fort Wayne Indiana hospital.
Assisting the deputies at the scene were members of Rockford Fire Department, Rockford EMS, Mendon Fire Department, MCERV (Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers), Lutheran Air and a OSP Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspector.
