
(10-14-20) The St. Henry Community is mourning the loss of High School Guidance Counselor Betsy Armstrong.
Following was posted today on her Facebook page –
So sorry to hear the news today not something anybody that knew you wanted to hear. St. Henry School lost a very valuable and WONDERFUL lady. You helped in so many ways and touched the lives of so many students and their families. I appreciated all you did for my sons and our family. You will be deeply missed by my family and everyone that knew you.

Obituary
Betsy Ellen Armstrong, age 60, of Mendon, passed away at her
home on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
Betsy – Born Feb. 25, 1960 to Thomas and Barbara Fox Armstrong
at Gibbons Hospital, Celina – Grandparents were George and Mildred
( Ditto ) Armstrong, Mendon and Peter and Hazel ( Stewart ) Fox, Rockford.
She was welcomed home by sisters: Nancy Armstrong ( Jim ) Painter and
Vicky Armstrong and a brother, Mark ( Robyn Hager ) Armstrong , who survive.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Kris ( Kevin ) Jacobs and their children,
Drew, Allison and Chase Jacobs, Jimmy ( Cassi ) Painter and children, Amairi and Dylan,
Jaime Armstrong and daughter, Ady, and Beth Armstrong ( Matt ) Overman and their children, Patrick, Charlie, Markus and Evelyn.
She attended Mendon-Union School ( Class of 1978 ), attended Wright
State University and someplace in Florida to earn 2 master degrees in
education and counseling.
Betsy spent her first job working 17 years at Citizens Commercial Bank in Celina.
Then she taught at St. Henry High School. Later she took the Guidance
Counselor position for the high school for a total career of 22 years there
at St. Henry. Loved the people there and planned to retire in 4 years.
Her first love was for the church and youth of any kind, shape or size!
She was the Youth Leader for 35 years at the Mendon Methodist Church.
Still cooking for the youth meals and helping make money for the youth to
go to Lakeside yearly.
She held many offices at the church! ( Church Treasurer and Lay Leader,
Teacher ) Just whatever it took to help keep it running smoothly. Always
smiling and ready with a joke!
She loved to make chocolate chip cookies and they were everywhere in
the state. Gifts for all !
Arrangements
There will be no visitation as Betsy was cremated ( at her request )
Sometime in the future we may have a celebration at the church but
not now, because of the virus !
A private service will be held at this time for immediate family and close friends only.
Please no flowers, instead, if you feel led to do so, donate something
to the General Fund at Mendon Methodist Church, P.O. Box 345, Mendon, OH 45862

Betsy was so good at her job! Always with a smile on her face, she was able to reach so many students, especially those in the margins. So, to you young students who knew her—go out, do something to the best of your ability, with a smile! Do it in her honor, like she always believed you could.
