(10-14-20) The Medical, Educational and Development (MED) Foundation of Mercer Health was unable to hold the annual Esmonde-Homan Memorial Golf Outing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, several local businesses opted to donate the amount they had initially pledged for sponsorship, despite the 2020 event being canceled.
Thanks to the generosity of the following sponsors, the MED Foundation was able to raise nearly $10,000 to use toward scholarships for 2021 graduates of Mercer County high schools.

“We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on many businesses. On behalf of the MED Foundation and Mercer Health, we are grateful for the continued support of our scholarship program and of the future of local healthcare.”
This year, The MED Foundation awarded a total of $16,500 to local high school students furthering their education in the medical field after graduation. Scholarships were awarded to students from each of the six high schools in Mercer County and were selected as recipients based on their academic performance, extracurricular activities, volunteerism and plans for higher education.
The MED Foundation Scholarship Program is funded by the annual Esmonde/Homan Golf Outing and Golf Ball Drop. Since 1992, 270 scholarships have been awarded totaling $292,450. Next year’s golf outing, is tentatively scheduled for June 11, 2021.
