(8-10-20) A 10-year-old was taken into custody after after leading Sidney Polices officers on a pursuit in a stolen car before crashing into two houses and several vehicles in early this morning.

The 10 year old was staying at a family friend’s house and took the keys to a car after those watching him had gone to bed.

A Sidney Police officer, Sgt. Christopher Burmeister , saw the car traveling the wrong way on a one-way street Monday morning, then started a pursuit after the driver did not stop and drove off.

During the pursuit, the 10 year old crashed into two houses on Turner Drive, causing significant damage to one of the homes and it was deemed not fit to live in following an inspection, the house was awaiting a final inspection before its sale this Friday.

Also hit during the pursuit was several vehicles on Lynn Street before the car finally came to a stop. Police were not aware that a 10-year-old was the driver of the car until after the pursuit had ended.

No injuries were reported.
