(9-4-19) The Mercer Health Diabetes Center, previously housed in the Disease Management Center at the Community Medical Center in Celina, has moved to the Weight Management Center at Mercer Health West Campus in Coldwater.

Mercer Health’s Diabetes Center offers education for people recently diagnosed with diabetes, people struggling with their blood sugars or anyone interested in learning more about diabetes. Education sessions are tailored to meet individual needs, including one-on-one and small group sessions and cover a variety of topics, including blood sugar testing, healthy eating, physical activity, understanding medications, preventing complications and education for pre-pregnancy and gestational diabetes.

The diabetes program was recently awarded The American Education Recognition Certificate for a quality diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES). The Association’s Education Recognition Certificate assures that educational services meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support. The DSMES Standards were developed and tested under the auspices of the National Diabetes Advisory Board in 1983 and were revised by the diabetes community in 1994, 2000, 2007, 2012, and 2017. The American Diabetes Association believes that Mercer Health offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.

The Mercer Health Weight Management Center offers comprehensive services designed to assist patients in their unique and individualized weight loss journeys and provide resources to help encourage healthier lifestyle choices.
