(7-20-19) On July 20, 2019 Kyle A. Heiser from Rockford  was arrested after fleeing on foot from a traffic stop conducted by the Decatur (Indiana) Police Department. The traffic stop occurred just north of Decatur on US 27 in Adams County, Indiana. The subject was apprehended with the assistance of an off duty Adams County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputy.

Decatur Police Officer Luke Rumschlag conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle due to traffic violations and prior interaction with the two occupants inside the vehicle. While Officer Rumschlag was conducting the traffic stop Heiser, exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a very thick brush area located on the east side of US 27. Due to the difficulty of the terrain and the extremely hot temperatures, Decatur Police Officers requested the assistance of off duty Adams County Sheriff K9 Deputy Bryce Kukelhan. Upon arrival, Deputy Kukelhan conducted a track of the area using his highly trained K9 partner, Cezar. K9 Cezar tracked and apprehended Heiser without any further incident or injury.

The passenger in the car remained inside the vehicle and was later released from the scene.

Heiser was arrested for an outstanding Adams County Arrest Warrant as well as preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A Misdemeanor), No Valid Operator (Class C Infraction) False or Fictitious Registration (Class C Infraction).
