(5-9-19) Zequiel Ahrns (23) of Minster has pleaded not guilty to 11 felony charges in connection with two incidents this past March at the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility.

  • Kidnaping – ransom, shield, hostage
  • Robbery – inflict, attempt to inflict Or Threaten Serious Physical Harm
  • Escape – Person Under Detention
  • Assault Committed On The Grounds Of Correctional Facility
  • Conveyance-Drugs-Detention
  • Trafficking In Drugs – Sell Or Offer To Sell
  • Aggravated Possession Of Drugs

The charges in the case against Ahrns are fromĀ  illegal conveyance of drugs into the jail, which allegedly caused another inmate’s overdose (Joseph D. Meinerding).

The other charges stem from Ahrns attacking two corrections officers and taking control of their tasers in an attempt to escape. Both officers were treated and released at a local hospital following this incident.

Ahrns remains incarcerated in the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility. Ahrns is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on June 5th.
