(2-26-19) Celina Kiwanis charter member Hans Rehrmann introduced Our Home’s Deb Simon-Heinfeld as his guest speaker at the club’s February 20 meeting.
Simon-Heinfeld described Our Home’s “Empty Bowls” fundraiser. The campaign consists of two parts. The first was the “Create a Bowl” event held at Brew Nation in January. Participants painted 220 bowls. The fundraiser concludes with the “Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction,” which will be held on March 30 at the American Legion. Tickets are $25 and only 200 will be sold. A ticket entitles the holder to a souvenir bowl from the “Create a Bowl” event, a buffet of soups from local vendors, salad and soft drinks. A specific bowl can be reserved before the dinner for an extra $10. The evening will also include music, silent auction tables, raffles, and door prizes. For more information about the “Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction,” call (419) 586-4663.
After the presentation the club held a brief business meeting. Karen Perts announced the club will sponsor the Mr. Potato Head Contest at the 2019 county fair. This will be the fifth year the club has sponsored this event which has grown in size each year.
The club sang “Happy Birthday” to two members and passed around a thank you note from the Mercer County 4-H for a donation from the Kiwanis.
Although the Lake Festival is months away, the club received its first information about setting up its stand.
