(1-30-19) The Ohio Association of Student Councils has selected Celina High School for the 2019 OASC State Conference. Celina High School student council members, Kaston Eichenauer and Reilly Cox, described the responsibilities the organization will have. They expect 200—300 students to attend. During the weekend of the conference, housing must be provided for these attendees. The CHS student council must also decorate the school; plan a banquet and dance; provide items such as pen, pencils, and highlighters; and provide a buffet and breakfast for the advisors. Being chosen to host this conference is a great honor for CHS, but it is also an expensive event. The students would appreciate any help they can receive from the public. For more information contact the student council advisor, Kristen Kerns, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the business portion of the meeting, Celina Kiwanis members made final arrangements for Fun Night. They discussed the upcoming Super Bowl 50/50 sale of chances on Fri., February 1 and Saturday, February 2 at Highmarks. Gas card chances will also be on sale those days. Beginning with the February board meeting, two gas card winners will be drawn at monthly board meetings through 2019. Finally, the club recognized J.T. Irmscher for his contributions to the club. The Kiwanis Club of Celina meets every Wednesday at CJ’s Highmarks at noon. To learn more about the club, like them on Facebook or find them at celinakiwanis.wix.com/kiwanis-club-celina.
