(1-30-19) Did you hear a crack or a boom this morning at your house?  If so you may have heard a cryoseism or what is called by many an frost quake or ice quake.

Cryoseism may be caused by a sudden cracking action in frozen soil or rock saturated with water or ice. As the water drains into the ground, it may eventually freeze and expand under colder temperatures, putting stress on its surroundings.

With the record-breaking polar vortex suppyling record cold temperatures, don’t be surprised if you continue to hear more.
