(7-7-18) According to a Daily Advocate story, a barn located in Northern Darke County and owned by Herb Nieport was destroyed this morning by a major fire that started at around 10:30 am.
The fire took place south of Ft. Recovery on SR 49 just north of Zumbrun Road in Darke County.
Nieport farms the land with his two sons, the 640 foot long ex-chicken barn was used for storage and office space for his farming operation.
One piece of farming equipment was saved, but most of the equipment and numerous vehicles stored inside were destroyed in the fire.
The Ansonia Fire Department, with help from several Mercer County departments helped in putting the fire out.
