(6-18-18) The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the St. Henry Police Department, will be hosting active school shooter training for deputies and other Mercer County Police Agencies on Tuesday, June 19th and Wednesday June 20th. The training will be held at the St. Henry High School at 391 E. Columbus St, St. Henry, Ohio.

This will be the 4th year for the Sheriff’s Office hosting an Active Shooter Training session in Mercer County.  We have had (53) students sign up to attend the class from all of the Law Enforcement agencies in Mercer County. We have been moving the training throughout the county.  We have had training at Marion Locals Schools, Ft. Recovery Schools, and Parkway Local Schools in the past.  Our hope is to allow all of the officers from Mercer County to attend training in each of the School Districts so that they get an idea of the general lay outs of the buildings that they may be asked to respond to one day.

We will be using simulation training weapons and want the public to be aware. There will be a visible law enforcement presence around the school as well as a large amount of police vehicles in the area. Signs will also be posted around the property warning the public to stay clear of the training.

The class will run from 8:00AM to 4:00PM each day. Any questions regarding this training should be directed to Sergeant Jay Wehrkamp by calling central dispatch at (419) 586-7724.
